Golf's COVID Comeback: PGA Superstore Reaping the Benefits

Golf had been on a bit of a decline pre-COVID, but when health officials recommended being outdoors with sufficient spacing, solo sports like golf and tennis suddenly became hot tickets.  Foot traffic to PGA Tour Superstore was up 41% Yo4Y in April 2023 compared to before the pandemic.

Looking at one of the more popular PGA Tour Superstores in Schaumburg, IL, we see that while December 2022 traffic was up nearly 20% on a year-over-four-year basis (perhaps some irons for dad for Christmas?). Since Feb. 2023, we’ve seen a steady uptick.  The overall appetite for sporting goods in this area appears quite healthy, as Dick’s Sporting Goods down the street has also seen positive year-over-four-year results.
