Food Halls have become a popular mainstay at cities throughout the United States. Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, MA is one of the oldest and most famous in the nation. Faneuil Hall opened in 1743 and was the site of several protests where Americans gave rousing speeches about discontent with British laws, which eventually led to the American War of Independence. The Garage Food Hall in Indianapolis, IN is located in the Bottleworks District, and also includes nearby activities like the Woodhouse Day Spa, Living Room Theaters, and duckpin bowling and vintage pinball machines at Pins Mechanical, Co. Assembly Food Hall in Nashville, TN features Nashville’s largest rooftop, over 30 eateries, and 3 stages. It’s a one-stop shop for food, socializing, and entertainment. La Plaza Colorado just opened this year with 24 food hall kitchens, opportunities for local Hispanic mom-and-pop stores, and even has a family entertainment center with over 200,000 immersive virtual reality experiences available. Since opening, it has quickly reached visitation on par with Budd Dairy Hall and Assembly Food Hall.
Year-over-year visitation to food halls was stronger in Q4 2023 of last year and has been a bit more mixed this year.
